Lab data
Hindu Kush potency: THC and CBD from 17 lab tests
In only 17 state lab tests, a small sample, Hindu Kush flower had a median total THC of 17.91%, with the middle half of results between 17.03% and 18.89%.1 CBD is low, and only 1 of the 17 tests reported individual terpene values, too few for a terpene profile.1
Small sample: only 17 matched tests. Treat the figures on this page as indicative, not definitive.1
THC distribution
Total THC across 17 tests
THC by year
Too few tests per year to show a trend: no year has 20 or more tests (2015: 1, 2018: 7, 2019: 7, 2021: 1, 2022: 1).1
THC by state
| State | Tests | Median THC |
|---|---|---|
| Washington | 14 | 17.64% |
States with at least 10 tests. Labs, testing rules and sampling differ by state, so compare states with care.1
Terpene profile
Only 1 of the 17 matched tests report individual terpene values, too few for a profile (we chart terpenes reported by at least 10 tests).1

How published THC figures compare
Strain databases publish a single figure or a range: Leafly lists 19% THC and AllBud 22–32%.2,3 Seed sellers differ: Sensi Seeds calls its line medium-to-high in potency without giving a number, Barney’s Farm lists 15–25% for its feminized version, and a US retailer lists the same seeds at 15–19%.4,5,6
In our small lab sample, 90% of Hindu Kush flower tested below 19.45%, and none of the 17 tests reached the bottom of AllBud’s range (the highest was 20.31%).1 Leafly says a true landrace is most likely less potent than today’s strains, which are typically bred for higher potency; with only 17 tests, 14 of them from 2018–2019, our data cannot test that.1,7

Limits of this data
- Coverage is thin and dated. WA (14), MA (2), MI (1) supply all 17 tests, 14 of them from 2018–2019; the latest is from 2022. Oregon and Rhode Island results carry no product names and could not be matched.
- Washington tests count only when the strain field and the product name both name the strain; 103 Washington flower results with only a generic product name (such as "Flower Lot") were left out.
- Some labs report higher THC than others, so we publish medians and middle ranges rather than maxima. One lab supplied 35.3% of these tests (7 labs in total).
- We matched names strictly: 217 results under near-miss names, including named variants such as "Purple Hindu Kush" and crosses, are excluded and counted, and duplicate certificates are removed. Terpenes: only 1 of the 17 tests reported individual terpene values (Massachusetts); Washington and Michigan labs report none.
